Land Language: Fire, Water, and Regional Design
I recently sat down with Land Language, a US-based podcast about regenerative landscape and design, for a conversation that ranged across the things I care most about in regional practice.
We talked about bushfire-resilient design that goes beyond the codes, the retrofit revolution we need, and how we navigate finding the sweet spots for different clients in different locations. We got into rainwater too, and the striking contrast between Australia mandating collection while parts of the American West have restricted it, and how much you might consider needing on your site.
It was a lovely conversation, and one I think you'll enjoy whether you're building, retrofitting, or just thinking about how homes sit in their landscape. If you're a designer, builder, or landscape consultant, we also touch on diversifying business models for further impact.
